Teaming up to hunt down and bring to light the best in sports, fitness and health in Columbus
You won't find information on the blue jackets, the crew, the clippers, or buckeye football here but you will find information on getting in shape just like them.

We don't watch from the sidelines, we get involved and lead the way for others who are not afraid of a few sore muscles and a little sweat…or maybe even a date with Nirvana.

We are a team of individuals who live, work and-most importantly-cavort in the city. The urban jungle is our playground. We love sports (but only if we are allowed to participate), we love fitness and we love health! And there are those of us who won’t hesitate to whip out a little etiquette to keep you up-to-date (be careful how you use spandex and if you’re thinking of going on an all-meat diet, think again!).

It’s natural to seek out hot nightspots when moving to a new city. That’s great, everyone needs to unwind. But we team up to find the best health food stores, bike shops, gyms, places to swim and places to meditate.

We bring people together. Love to watch the Crew, but you would rather be the one going for the goal? We’ll hook you up.

Tired of taking your bike on those lonely paths? Or maybe you’re not even sure where the best paths are. We’ll hook you up.

Maybe you are a bit of a show off (there’s nothing wrong with that if you work hard to stay in shape) and you are ready to win a marathon. We’ll hook you up.

Whether you’re looking for a marathon, a walking club, a team sport or a place to reflect…we’ll hook you up.

Team members run the gamut from brawn to brains and everything in between. One thing we all have in common, we are here to fill you in on the latest trends in urban health and fitness.

[fit personality]

Where do you fit in? At the gym, by yourself, in a class?

Are you a loner? Or are you all about socializing? Almost anyone will say they would love to get in shape but that’s a relative term. There are many paths to wellness. To avoid feeling like a failure, find out your workout personality before plopping a lot of money down for exercise equipment you will never use, or a gym membership when you can’t stand working out around a bunch of strangers.
[ask yourself]

Try this quiz from the American Institute for Cancer Research:

  1. When I think about physical activity, I:
    1. can't wait to put on my walking shoes
    2. really want to exercise but need a push
    3. dread the idea of moving a muscle, but am happy once I get moving
  2. When I am physically active, I enjoy exercising:
    1. by myself at my own pace
    2. with a team or group
    3. with one or two buddies
  3. I exercise because:
    1. I want to stay in shape, slim down, or improve my health
    2. I want to see my friends and catch up on the latest news
    3. the weather is nice or I just feel like it
  4. When I take part in a physical activity, I usually:
    1. plan the event ahead of time
    2. participate when someone else has set up the activity or attend a class
    3. pull it together quickly and do something active when the mood strikes
  5. Others see me as:
    1. a leader
    2. a team player
    3. someone who goes along with a good idea
  6. I enjoy physical activities that are:
    1. set by my own routine
    2. set by a professional, teacher, or group
    3. spontaneous

For every answer, give yourself:

  • a = 1 point
  • b = 2 points
  • c = 3 points
If you scored...
  • 6-9 points: you are a self-motivator
  • 10-14 points: you are a team player
  • 15-18 points: you are spontaneous
Self-Motivator - You like structure and organization. Creating and sticking to your own exercise plan is relatively easy, but you may find yourself losing interest in your usual routine. Try adding a few new activities such as biking, rowing, gardening, or hiking. Or try alternating your favorite workouts such as walking, swimming, and weightlifting on different days of the week.

Team Player - To you, exercise is a way to socialize and stay connected to friends and family. Group activities and classes are a natural selection for you. Sign up for an exercise class; put together a group of friends for walking; or join a team sport or sports league such as bowling, softball, or doubles tennis.

Spontaneous - You love freedom and loathe conforming to rigid rules. Things that get you moving might include a call from friends who need a fourth player for a round of golf, a hike in the woods to enjoy a beautiful fall day, or a walk to the store when you are out of milk. These activities are great, but make sure you're doing something active on most days.
