[security deposits]

   Various utility companies may charge a security deposit in addition to the monthly fee. This security deposit depends on credit history, past and present payment history, new customers, etc. Security deposits are not required for all companies and some may charge one household and not another.

   The Division of Water and Sewers does not charge a security deposit. The Division of Electricity charges a deposit anywhere from $35.00 to $500 depending on the amount of the previous bills at the property for any tenant.
